Lando Norris is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding McLaren’s progress ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
While acknowledging that the team has worked tirelessly over the winter break to stay competitive, the British driver refuses to reveal the specifics of their improvements.
Norris took a significant step forward in 2024, challenging for the championship more seriously than ever before.
Despite his efforts, Max Verstappen ultimately clinched the drivers’ title, but McLaren successfully fended off Ferrari to secure the constructors’ championship. Now, with sights set on winning both titles in 2025, McLaren has been fine-tuning every aspect of their performance.

McLaren’s Progress Remains a Mystery
When asked about the areas in which McLaren has made gains, Norris remained tight-lipped. “That’s for us, I don’t need to share that,” he told reporters after the race. “The team is working very hard to improve: the strategy engineers and mechanics, etc. I don’t need to say these things to the media.”
The 24-year-old emphasized that while some aspects of his personal development are open for discussion, the finer details of McLaren’s progress are not for public consumption.
“It’s the same as when I work hard to improve in areas where I do. Some things I say, some things I don’t,” he added.
“People spend a lot of time on this, they dedicate their lives to this. I’m not going to tell you how people work and what they improve to be the best in their sport or job.”

A Focused and Determined McLaren
Norris’ reluctance to disclose specifics underscores McLaren’s focused approach as they prepare for another season of high-stakes competition. While the details of their advancements remain a mystery, one thing is clear, McLaren is determined to build on their 2024 success and fight for both championships in 2025.
Whether their efforts will be enough to dethrone Verstappen remains to be seen, but Norris and his team are keeping their cards close, ensuring that their rivals don’t get an early insight into their game plan.
