Cesc Fabregas has affirmed his dedication to Como, fresh off guiding the club to a historic top-four finish in Serie A, securing a coveted spot in the Champions League. The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, now as coach, expressed his satisfaction and outlined the vision for a demanding future.
Speaking during the club’s open-top bus celebrations, Fabregas revealed extensive discussions about the club’s direction. “Future? We had a long meeting at 2pm with the president and the director,” Fabregas told Sky Sport. “We have consolidated the idea and the vision is already on the next season. I am very happy here. But as you know, I am missing a step or two more, and I am learning a lot. We are creating a mentality.”
Rapid ascent and a cautious outlook
Como’s ascent has been remarkably swift, defying expectations over the past two and a half years. Fabregas acknowledged this rapid growth but stressed the need for prudence as they prepare for Europe’s elite competition. He emphasized that the club must raise its level significantly to compete effectively, warning that unpreparedness could lead to heavy defeats against giants like Real Madrid or Barcelona.
The club’s focus has already shifted to the upcoming season, which Fabregas anticipates will be both tough and distinctly different from their Serie A campaign. He described their achievement as “a masterpiece,” but underscored that preparations for the challenges ahead begin immediately.

Nico Paz’s future clarified
In the middle of the celebrations, Fabregas also addressed the future of key player Nico Paz, whose contributions have been vital to Como’s success. The midfielder’s situation has been a subject of speculation, but Fabregas provided clarity on his contractual status.
“A very important player for our growth. We grew with him, and he grew with us,” Fabregas stated, highlighting Paz’s significance. “We are an important match, so let’s see what happens, but our will is that he stays with us.”
Fabregas confirmed that Paz remains 50% a Como player, with Real Madrid holding the sole right to determine his future. Crucially, the coach dismissed any rumors linking Paz with Inter, asserting that the young talent “will not play for Inter.” Instead, Paz’s next season will see him either return to Real Madrid or continue his development with Como.
