England international Raheem Sterling was arrested on Thursday morning on suspicion of drug-driving following an incident involving his Lamborghini near Hampshire. The 31-year-old footballer has since been released on bail.

The arrest comes after eyewitness accounts and dashcam footage emerged detailing the alleged dangerous driving. A van driver, whose account was reported by The Sun, described seeing a Lamborghini swerving dangerously on the M3 westbound.

Eyewitness account details erratic driving

The van driver recounted the alarming sequence of events, beginning shortly after joining the M3. “Just after I got on the M3 westbound I saw a Lamborghini swerving. He nearly crashed into the left-hand barrier. He was drifting left into the hard shoulder and almost crashed. I thought there was something up with this guy,” the anonymous driver told The Sun.

The driver described multiple near-misses:

Sterling’s car nearly collided with the left-hand barrier.

It drifted into the hard shoulder, almost crashing.

The Lamborghini nearly went into the side of the van driver’svehicle in the inside lane, prompting a beep from the witness.

At the Minley junction (4A) flyover bridge, Sterling’s car reportedly went “fast on the wrong side of the road,” forcing four or five other vehicles to pull over.

The Lamborghini then nearly hit the back of the van driver’s vehicle before cutting in front.

Dashcam footage, obtained by the Daily Mail, appears to corroborate parts of the eyewitness account, showing Sterling’s vehicle veering between three lanes. The footage reportedly captured other cars adjusting their speed to avoid a collision, and a van coming into very close proximity to the Lamborghini.

Collision with barrier and subsequent spin

The incident culminated in a dramatic collision with a barrier. The van driver described the moments leading up to and immediately after the impact. “When I was going slowly, he nearly went into the back of me. He cut in front of me and then veered left into a barrier and hit the front left of his vehicle and the tyres went about 4ft into the air,” the witness stated. The 52-second dashcam clip also reportedly shows the Lamborghini hitting the barriers.

The impact caused the vehicle to spin. “The car spun about 180 degrees. He would have kept going I’m sure if he hadn’t hit his wheels,” the van driver added, highlighting the severity of the incident.
