The chest of Manchester United’s new third kit is deliberately spare: the adidas Performance logo, a devil emblem in place of the traditional crest, and beneath them only the Snapdragon fireball icon, with no sponsor text at all.
That was the whole point of the design. On Champions League nights, the wordmark comes back.
The rule behind the change
UEFA’s equipment guidelines require the same version of a sponsor logo to be worn across all of a club’s kits in the tournament, as first reported by SPORTbible. United’s home and away shirts for 2026-27 already carry the full “Snapdragon” wordmark, so the third strip has to match when the club plays in Europe. That means the fireball icon on its own is not compliant, and the wordmark will be added.
The rule does not affect domestic use: in the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, the icon-only version can stay.

What the kit looks like
The third strip was unveiled in mid-August 2026 with an ivory base, dark green shorts and maroon detailing on the collar and cuffs. A tonal pattern of hand-drawn Lancashire rose illustrations runs across the shirt.
A bespoke sign-off badge on the back collar mirrors the arched entrance to Salford Lads Club, with the wording swapped to “Manchester United Football Club” while keeping the Lancashire Roses on either side.
When it will be worn in Europe
The 2026-27 Champions League league phase draw takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Thursday 27 August 2026. The opening round of matches runs on 8-10 September.
United secured their place in the competition by finishing third in the Premier League in 2025-26, and their eight league-phase opponents will be set by the Nyon draw.
