Roberto De Zerbi did not hide his impatience.

“Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave. If they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go, and we find other players,” the Tottenham head coach told reporters after leaving the Brazilian out of his squad for the 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.

That “economic solution” now appears to be in place. Everton have agreed a package worth up to £35m for the forward they sold to Tottenham for £60m in 2022, structured as £25m up front with a further £10m in add-ons. Richarlison, who is in the final year of his Spurs contract, scored 32 goals in 134 games in north London. His first stint at Goodison brought 53 in 152.

Ndiaye, the 24-year-old Senegal international who joined Everton from Marseille in 2024 for an initial £15m, has spent the past year turning down new-contract offers and has now agreed personal terms with Tottenham. Fabrizio Romano wrote that the winger has “given green light to Tottenham contract proposal, ready to join Spurs project under Roberto de Zerbi.”

From £15m to £60m in two years

Ndiaye scored 17 times in 74 appearances for Everton across two seasons and has been one of the most sought-after attackers of the summer. Manchester City had also weighed a move but appear to have shifted their focus to Cody Gakpo.

For David Moyes, releasing Ndiaye is defensible only if Richarlison arrives in the same 48 hours. Everton have been juggling several deals in the final stretch, with a right-back and additional cover among the manager’s stated priorities.

For De Zerbi, the incoming winger is the marquee piece in a summer of heavy spending north of £300m that has also brought Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. Pape Matar Sarr and Kevin Danso are among the other Spurs players who have asked to move on before the deadline.

Medicals still to come

Paperwork and medicals are the final hurdle for both moves. The clubs are working to have every document filed before the Premier League summer window closes at 11pm local time on Tuesday, 1 September.
