The name Xavier Worthy has an unusual place in Taylor Swift’s biography. On Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, she recounted the moment the Kansas City Chiefs drafted the Texas receiver in the first round in 2024.
“I fell in love with it, I became obsessed [with] it. I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!'” Swift said. “I was screeching, I couldn’t believe it.”
Over two years later, on the night her husband made NFL history, the jersey off his back landed in Worthy’s locker.
The 59-yard catch that put Kelce past Witten
Kelce turned a short third-quarter pass from Patrick Mahomes into a 59-yard gain against the Broncos, taking him to 13,067 career receiving yards and past Jason Witten’s 13,046 into second place on the all-time list for tight ends. Only Tony Gonzalez, with 15,127 yards, still sits ahead of him.

Kansas City won 31-10 at Arrowhead Stadium, with Kelce finishing with three catches for 71 yards.
‘My brother forever’
After the final whistle, Kelce presented Worthy with the milestone jersey and a handwritten message on the front.
“X! My brother forever! Cherish every time we step on the field. One of the realest on & off the gridiron!”
Below the note, Kelce added the date, the words “2nd All-Time” and his signature. He and Worthy have been teammates since Worthy was the Chiefs’ first-round pick in 2024.

Swift was in the stadium to see it. It was her first Chiefs game since her July wedding to Kelce at Madison Square Garden, and she watched from a suite with actor Tom Cruise. She jumped up and high-fived Cruise after a Rashee Rice touchdown catch in the second quarter, then celebrated again when Kelce broke off the 59-yard catch.
When an ESPN camera cut to her later in the game, moments after Kelce was flattened by a Broncos defender, lip-readers caught her reaction: “Get off him.”
