Alcaraz will lead Team Europe when the ninth Laver Cup gets under way on September 25 at London’s O2 Arena, and one of the louder side-plots of tennis week does not involve a racket. Claudia Canals, the Barcelona-based social media entrepreneur fans keep matching him with online, has become a fixture on tennis Twitter without ever turning up at one of his matches.

She founded CC Studio, a Barcelona content and social media agency, and previously appeared on the Spanish edition of “Temptation Island,” according to Yahoo Entertainment. Neither she nor Alcaraz has confirmed a relationship.

No player’s box at Flushing Meadows

When Alcaraz was in New York earlier this month for the US Open, Canals was nowhere near Arthur Ashe Stadium. She was posting beach photos to Instagram with a one-word caption, “September,” as he worked his way through the early rounds. His campaign ended at the quarterfinal stage, beaten by American Ben Shelton.

Canals has leaned into the tennis attention without fueling the romance directly. One recent Instagram post carried the caption:

“I’m pretty good at tennis too; my serve lets me down a bit, but I’m working on it.”

Yacht photos and Alcaraz’s ‘I’m free’ line

Speculation began this summer when photographs of the pair surfaced from a yacht trip off the Italian coast, with other people also on board. Alcaraz has been guarded about the subject, telling reporters simply: “No, I’m free. I’m free. I’m free.”

That silence has not slowed the rumor mill. Canals has continued to post from boats around Ibiza and Formentera through the late summer, and each new upload has landed in an Instagram comments section thick with Alcaraz mentions.

Zverev, Ruud and Menšík alongside Alcaraz

At the O2, Alcaraz headlines a Team Europe lineup that also features Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, Flavio Cobolli, Jakub Menšík and fellow Spaniard Rafael Jódar. Yannick Noah returns as captain, with Tim Henman as vice-captain. Team World, led by Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter, fields Taylor Fritz, Brandon Nakashima, Alex de Minaur, Learner Tien, Alexander Bublik and Argentina’s Francisco Cerúndolo.

Alcaraz set out his own view of the venue when his participation was first announced in November 2025.

“To play at The O2 in London is going to be amazing. Having the chance to be in a team with players that normally I’m fighting against during the year is really unique and what makes me keep wanting to play Laver Cup every year.”

Play runs Friday through Sunday. Friday matches carry one point, Saturday two and Sunday three, with the first team to 13 points lifting the trophy.
