Michael Olise’s start to the 2026-27 season has forced Bayern Munich to move sooner than they wanted. The France international has 8 goals and 4 assists in 7 matches this season, and the club’s leadership is now openly signalling that a new deal is coming.

Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told German media the club would come to Olise with an improved package before the current deal, which runs to 2029, drifts closer to its final years.

“Olise is under contract until 2029. At some point, the club will have to sit down with him and present a suitable offer,” Rummenigge said, describing the 24-year-old as “exceptional in his position”.

Liverpool waiting on a 2027 window

The urgency is not hypothetical. Liverpool are reported to have opened talks with Olise’s camp about a move in the summer of 2027, and the player is described as receptive.

Real Madrid have also been named among the clubs monitoring the situation. Bayern have already made clear a January exit is not on the table, which turns 2027 into the earliest realistic window for any move, and precisely the one Liverpool are said to be planning around.

Eberl sets a soft deadline

Board member Max Eberl set out Bayern’s line at the start of September in more cautious terms than Rummenigge would later use.

“Michael has made exceptional progress with us. We will certainly sit down at the appropriate time to discuss the next steps,” Eberl told reporters.

“He still has a three-year contract, and I would like to emphasise there is no release clause.”

“Let me put it this way: we should know by next summer whether or not he is inclined to extend his contract,” he added.

Beyond 2029 and a buyout clause

The extension Bayern are working on is understood to lengthen Olise’s stay beyond 2029, improve his wages and add a buyout clause designed to price out English suitors. No official figure for a new salary has been confirmed by the club.

Since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, Olise has 50 goals and 58 assists in 114 appearances for Bayern, with two Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups and one DFB-Pokal.
