Pressed in Baku about Horner having named Ferrari as the only team he would rejoin without an ownership stake, Vasseur delivered a blunt one-liner.
“Mr Horner is looking for a job, that everybody knows, everywhere,” Vasseur said at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on 26 September.
Horner, dismissed as Red Bull team principal in July 2025, told The Times he was still hunting for the right return to the pit-wall and named Ferrari as the one team he would consider without an equity stake, calling it “the biggest brand in Formula 1” and “the sleeping giant of Formula 1.”
“Ah, we are not working in the perfect serenity. For me firstly, but for everybody in the team,” Vasseur told reporters in Baku.

“For the media, for 50 percent of the questions [to be] about this, I think it’s a bit of a frustrating situation.”
“Each interview, it’s been 25 times a day, I think we are coming back on this.”
“But what can I do? Just to try to do my best to push the team, to try to motivate them, focus on what is better today, and not to spend time with gossips.”
A joke about sharing an office
Asked how he could imagine working with Horner if it came to that, Vasseur turned the moment into a punchline.

Why the rumours keep coming back
Ferrari handed Vasseur a multi-year contract extension in July 2025, publicly framing the deal as backing his long-term rebuild at Maranello. That commitment, made amid an earlier wave of Horner speculation, has done little to still the chatter, and Horner’s Times interview relit the fuse.
Vasseur was asked in Baku whether his own future was in his hands and answered that it was not. He also insisted he still has “the best job in the world” and that his focus is on the races Ferrari have left to run this season.
Ferrari head to the next round at Sepang on 4 October.
