After the season’s conclusion, the F1 drivers have voted on who they believe were the best performers of the 2024 campaign. The result is this top 10 list, featuring a few surprises and disappointments along the way.
10. Lewis Hamilton (down 8 places)

Ouch. It wasn’t a dream season for Lewis Hamilton, who wrapped up his Mercedes era with a 7th place in the championship. However, his peers believe he was worth more than a 7th place finish, voting him as the 10th best driver of the season. This marks an 8-place drop from last year.
The experienced Alonso slides to 9th this year, 6 spots lower than in 2023. Despite a strong start to the season, inconsistent results kept him from staying at the top of the rankings.
Hülkenberg makes an impressive debut on this list in 2024, arguably the biggest surprise of the rankings. After finishing 11th in the championship, his peers voted him the 8th best driver of the season.
Pierre Gasly also surprises on the positive side. Despite finishing 10th in the championship, his fellow drivers ranked him as the 7th best on the grid, reflecting his strong performances.
6. Carlos Sainz (unchanged)

Sainz retains his 6th place from last year. A consistent and reliable performer, Sainz continues to deliver solid results. The big question is how he’ll perform with Williams next season.
5. Oscar Piastri (up 3 places)

Rookie sensation Piastri climbs three spots to 5th. His first full Formula 1 season has been nothing short of spectacular. Despite finishing 4th in the championship, his peers believe he isn’t quite the 4th best yet.
4. George Russell (new entry)

Russell jumps straight into 4th place on this list. A season filled with strong performances and consistency has made him a favorite among his fellow drivers. Wonder if Verstappen ranked him highly, considering their controversies towards the end of the season.
Leclerc climbs two spots to a solid 3rd place, matching his final position in the championship. His speed and consistency keep him highly regarded by the paddock.
