Hojlund has now scored eight goals in his last ten competitive internationals for Denmark. The latest came after Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward gifted possession to Gustav Isaksen inside his own penalty area, chased back to try to recover, and brought the Denmark forward down for a clear spot-kick.
Hojlund rolled it into the bottom-left corner past Ward in the 75th minute. It was Denmark’s second win over Wales in a week, following a 2-0 victory in Copenhagen the previous weekend.
Riemer’s side comfortable in Cardiff
The game was one-sided on paper even if the margin was slim on the pitch. Denmark had 13 shots to Wales’ six, with four on target and an xG of 2.20 against the home side’s 0.37, Wales’ lowest in a home Nations League fixture.
Brian Riemer’s side moved to six points in Group A4, six behind leaders Portugal with two matchdays to play. Wales dropped to third in the group after a third defeat in four games. Mads Hermansen was comfortable for Denmark throughout.

“A tough way to concede”
Wales defender Ben Davies told Sky Sports after the final whistle:
“I didn’t feel like there was a whole lot in the game, to be honest. It’s a tough way to concede.”
Denmark have now won five straight meetings with Wales in all competitions, conceding just one goal across those games.
Mixed start to Napoli life
Hojlund left Manchester United for Napoli on a permanent deal in June, the move triggered by the Italian club’s return to the Champions League. His start to Serie A under Massimiliano Allegri has been more mixed, with two league goals in his opening five matches.
