The sticking point in Bayern Munich’s talks with Michael Olise is a single number: €200m. The France international is prepared to extend his contract beyond its 2029 expiry, BILD reported this week via One Football, but only if any new deal includes a release clause of around that figure, worth roughly £170m.

Bayern want the opposite kind of document: a long one with no exit written in. SportBible reports that the club is pushing for an extension to 2032 and a salary of around £21m a year. Olise’s camp has not responded positively to those terms.

Rummenigge wants an offer on the table

Supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has signalled that Bayern cannot wait on the question. In an interview with Munich’s Abendzeitung relayed by Goal.com, he pushed the club to act.

“At some point, they will have to talk to him and submit an appropriate offer,” Rummenigge said.

He went further on Olise’s standing, placing him alongside Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal among the world’s best right wingers and calling the Frenchman “at the moment even more mature”.

Bayern open to the clause

FootballTransfers reports that Bayern are open to including a release clause to keep the player, with the €200m figure likely used as a starting value in year one before decreasing in later years. BILD insider Christian Falk is quoted on the mood inside the club.

“At the moment, the feeling at Bayern Munich is that it has to be worth at least €200m,” Falk said.

That lines up almost exactly with FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value for Olise, which rose to €198.1m in the October update. The clause Olise is asking for and the price Bayern would want for him on the open market are effectively the same figure.

Liverpool and Real Madrid still watching

Real Madrid pursued Olise heavily during the summer, according to SportBible, while Liverpool have remained the most consistent Premier League suitor, as CaughtOffside reports, with the Anfield club watching his situation closely after a strong Bundesliga start.

Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for a fee reported at €53m. He has 50 goals in 114 games for the club and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2025/26 after 15 goals and 19 assists. His 2026/27 Bayern campaign has started on the same terms: 8 goals and 4 assists in his first 7 appearances for the club.
