Three months after lifting the World Cup with Spain, Dani Olmo has started three matches for Barcelona this season.
The German champions are preparing a January approach for the 28-year-old attacking midfielder, renewing an interest they last pursued seriously when he was at RB Leipzig. Vincent Kompany is said to be the driver.
Barcelona would only begin to think about selling at a figure close to €80-90m, according to Diario Sport citing transfer journalist Ekrem Konur. His market value is estimated closer to €60m, roughly the fee Barcelona paid Leipzig in the summer of 2024, and his contract runs until June 2030 with a €500m release clause no bidder will come near.
The club’s position is that Olmo is not for sale. The player’s own stance, reported by Marca, is that he “is happy at Barcelona, and leaving the Camp Nou has not crossed his mind.”

Behind Fermín López in Flick’s rotation
Olmo has started three La Liga and Champions League fixtures this season and come on from the bench in five more, with Fermín López ahead of him in Flick’s attacking midfield rotation.
Flick rotates heavily and the schedule is relentless, with Barcelona topping La Liga and still in the Champions League group stage.
Why the Bayern pitch makes sense
Olmo spent four seasons at Leipzig before his 2024 move to Barcelona and knows the Bundesliga well. He also knows Bayern from the other side of the pitch: he scored a hat-trick in Leipzig’s 3-0 win over Bayern in the 2023 German Super Cup.
Liverpool have been informed of his potential availability and are weighing the terms rather than preparing an immediate bid. Bayern themselves are waiting for signals from Olmo’s representatives before firming up any offer.

No formal bid sits with Barcelona. The January window opens on 1 January, and until then Olmo stays in Flick’s squad with the player’s own public line that his time will come.
