Spanish journalist François Gallardo told Defensa Central this week that Kylian Mbappé’s “priority is Liverpool” and that the Premier League club have already made first contact with his mother and agent, Fayza Lamari.

The claims, carried in English by Football365, would reframe a signing Real Madrid landed on a free transfer in 2024 as a player plotting the exit by 2027, with a fee reportedly in the region of €200m to €250m.

All of it is unconfirmed by any club or by the player himself. Mbappé’s contract at the Bernabéu runs through the summer of 2029, and Real Madrid are under no obligation to sell at any point.

Gallardo claims Lamari has been called

Gallardo’s quotes are specific. “Several Premier League teams are interested in Kylian Mbappé, but the player’s priority is Liverpool. They have already contacted Fayza Lamari in recent weeks,” he told Defensa Central.

“The player doesn’t feel loved or supported in the Real Madrid dressing room and that makes him uncomfortable.”

Caughtoffside reported that Liverpool’s approach is aimed at the summer of 2027 rather than the January window.

Gallardo went further still in a line relayed by FootballTransfers: “He has made the decision to leave the club in the summer of 2027, and Real Madrid is not going to stand in his way.”

Pedrerol turns on Mbappé

Josep Pedrerol, presenter of El Chiringuito de Jugones and widely regarded as close to the Real Madrid board, has spent the past week on air pulling apart Mbappé’s season.

The 27-year-old is “losing the love of madridismo”, according to Pedrerol, who argues that two trophy-less campaigns for a player bought as the centrepiece of Florentino Pérez’s project speak for themselves. He questioned whether Mbappé has really taken on the club’s values and whether he is giving enough on the pitch.

French journalist Daniel Riolo called Pedrerol’s broadside the “voice of Florentino Pérez” and read the signal from Madrid as “alarming” for anyone expecting the Frenchman to stay the course.

Renew-or-sell, and a Klopp back-story

Spanish reporter Juan Jesús, cited by TEAMtalk, has gone another step and claimed Real Madrid will put Mbappé on the market if he does not sign a new contract next summer, to avoid entering 2028 with just a year left on his deal.

“For Florentino Pérez, it’s a huge problem,” Jesús wrote. “Mbappé is the absolute centre of his project, and he doesn’t contemplate his departure, which he would consider a monumental failure.”

The Liverpool strand also has a decade-old prelude. As a teenager at Monaco in 2017, Mbappé reportedly held talks with then-Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp before eventually signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappé’s current manager at Real Madrid is José Mourinho, appointed on a three-year deal in June 2026. Both English and Spanish reports have linked an international-break social media post from Mbappé to tension with the Portuguese, though neither man has addressed it in public.

Mbappé has scored 94 goals in 111 appearances since joining Real Madrid as a free agent in 2024. The club have made no public comment on the Liverpool claims.
