Michael Olise’s camp is reportedly pushing for a €200m release clause as the condition of a new Bayern Munich contract. His own manager has just made that number easier to argue.
Asked by RTL and Sky whether Olise was already a world-class player, Vincent Kompany did not hedge.
“Yes, of course. Without a doubt,” he said.
Kompany then shut down any notion that Bayern were manufacturing the player.

“But it’s not about us turning a player into a world-class player. That’s impossible. He already has that within himself.”
Bayern are reportedly willing to break with their traditional refusal to grant release clauses in order to tie Olise down, with the €200m number appearing in several recent reports. Real Madrid and Liverpool are both tracking the France winger ahead of next summer, according to Goal, and an analysis from Football Transfers sets his estimated transfer value at €198m, almost mirroring the ceiling the club would reportedly accept.
Eight goals in seven games
Olise, 24, is picking up where he left off after being named Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2025/26, when he returned 15 goals and 19 assists in the league.
He has eight goals and three assists in seven appearances for Bayern so far this season, the Bundesliga’s own data shows, and sits as the division’s joint-top scorer with four strikes in four Bundesliga matches.

Olise added four goals and two assists for France across four appearances during the international break.
‘The vision to see what others might not see’
Kompany kept circling back to Olise’s eye for detail.
“He always seems to spot something that others might not see, and that applies in training as well.”
The compliment cuts both ways. The more emphatically Bayern treat Olise as untouchable, the stronger his representatives’ hand becomes at the negotiating table. The club signed him from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for a reported €60m, per Sky Sports, and would reportedly offer a new deal running to 2032 with a pay rise from his current €14m a year.

Nothing is signed
The €200m figure is a reported demand, not a signed condition. No extension has been announced by Bayern or by Olise, and the club has made no public statement on the clause talks.
