Dowman was still 15 the night he walked onto a Champions League pitch for the first time. Eleven months later, the three certificates are his: youngest in Europe’s top club competition, youngest to score in the Premier League, and youngest to win it.

The Champions League mark came first, on 4 November 2025, when Arsenal brought him on against Slavia Prague in the group stage. He was 15 years and 308 days.

That beat Youssoufa Moukoko’s benchmark by 75 days. Moukoko had held the record since December 2020, when he came on for Borussia Dortmund against Zenit St Petersburg at 16 years and 18 days.

A 21-year Premier League record falls

James Vaughan had been the Premier League’s youngest goalscorer for almost 21 years. On 10 April 2005, the Everton teenager scored the fourth goal of a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, aged 16 years and 270 days.

Dowman broke it on 14 March 2026, scoring in stoppage time of Arsenal’s 2-0 home win over Everton. He was 16 years and 73 days, 197 days younger than Vaughan had been.

A champion before his seventeenth birthday

The third record is harder to picture because no English top-flight winner had ever carried a 16-year-old through to the medal ceremony. Dowman collected a Premier League winner’s medal when Arsenal clinched the 2025/26 title. He was 16 years and 144 days.

Opening the 2027 edition

Dowman will open the Guinness World Records Football Edition 2027 as the lead profile in a new “Class of ’27” feature.

“The youngest player on our list, Max sums up what the Class of ’27 is all about,” said Tom Beckerlegge, the book’s senior editor.

“To have already achieved three Guinness World Records titles before turning 17 is extraordinary, and his story captures exactly why this generation of players is so exciting.”

Behind Saka and Madueke

Dowman is in Arsenal’s first-team squad this season in a rotational role behind Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke. He scored twice in a 4-2 EFL Cup win at Ipswich Town on 15 September, and made his first Premier League appearance of the season five days later as a late substitute against Brighton.

He turns 17 on 31 December.
