Amad posted the message to his Snapchat story on Tuesday night, in the hours after Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid: “F****** disgrace. I have no words.”

The winger had come off the bench at the Metropolitano and played the final 25 minutes.

Leny Yoro was sent off in the second half, and the loss extended United’s winless run to five games.

Martinez names the technical director

Lisandro Martinez did not wait to be prompted. In front of Amazon Prime’s cameras in Madrid, the Argentina defender went straight at technical director Jason Wilcox.

“I expect more from our technical director. I have to be honest,” Martinez told Amazon Prime.

“I have to control myself a lot, but sometimes it’s a reflection of how our club is at the moment.”

“We had a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from the top, from upstairs, to bring in more players.”

United spent around £155m on four senior signings in the summer, including Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba, after finishing third in the Premier League last season.

Teammates split in the mixed zone

Tielemans was asked about Martinez’s attack and refused to engage.

“I have no comment on that. I don’t know,” the Belgium midfielder said.

Andrey Santos chose a different line, apologising to travelling supporters and backing his head coach.

“I just want to say sorry to everyone that has travelled to Spain,” Santos said.

“Of course, we believe in the manager.”

Pundits including Wayne Rooney and Jamie Carragher criticised Martinez for taking the row public.

Carrick kept on, for now

After six points from six Premier League matches and a Carabao Cup exit to Brighton, United have decided not to sack Carrick. It is the club’s worst start to a league season in 40 years. Eddie Howe and Antonio Conte are among the names being discussed externally if results force the issue.

Amad has not deleted his post.
