LeBron James sold his Brentwood Park mansion in September 2021 for $19.6 million, around $1.4 million below the roughly $21 million he had paid for it in October 2015. The buyer was Hon “Alexander” Shing, founder of Los Angeles-based real-estate investment firm Cottonwood Management, in a deal that closed off the open market.
By the time it changed hands, the house had been standing empty for several years. James first listed the property in March 2021 at $20.5 million, already below what he had paid for it, and softened the price six months later to seal the private sale.
A Brentwood trophy that stopped earning its keep
The walled, gated estate on Rockingham Drive sits on more than half an acre of Brentwood Park and was built in 2011. It runs to more than 9,000 square feet of traditional white brick and stone across two levels, with six bedrooms, a double-height foyer, a marble kitchen, a wood-paneled office, a gym, an infinity-edge pool and a cabana.
James had bought the property while still a Cleveland Cavalier, with a source close to him telling ESPN at the time that the move was “not a basketball decision” and that he saw Los Angeles mainly as a vacation base and a hub for his growing entertainment business. After he signed with the Lakers in 2018, the Rockingham house ceased to be his main local address.

He kept other homes in Los Angeles
The 2021 sale thinned his Los Angeles holdings rather than ending them. James held on to a second Brentwood estate he bought in 2017 and a separate Beverly Hills property acquired a few years later.
The basketball chapter has since moved. James signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2026, telling the Lakers he was not coming back after eight seasons in Los Angeles. He turned 41 before the signing and is entering his 24th NBA season.
