Harry Kane walks into the London gala on Monday as the market’s clear pick for the game’s biggest individual prize. The latest 2026 Ballon d’Or betting has Kane at -180 and Lamine Yamal next at +150, with the Englishman’s 61 goals in 51 Bayern Munich matches last season the central argument.
The money tells another story. On Forbes’ 2026 ranking of the highest-paid footballers, Kane sits ninth on an estimated $42 million, $29m from his Bayern deal and $13m off the pitch. Eight players earn more, among them the teenager who sits second-favourite to pip him on Monday.
Cristiano Ronaldo tops the Forbes list on a projected $300 million at Al Nassr. Lionel Messi is next on $145m at Inter Miami, with Kylian Mbappé third on $100m at Real Madrid. Add those two together and Ronaldo still outstrips them by $55m.
Pulse of Ghana, citing Forbes, puts Ronaldo’s split at $250m on-field and $50m off it, a reflection of the scale of his Saudi contract. Messi’s balance is almost the inverse: $70m from football and $75m from commercial partnerships, with Apple TV, OpenAI and Duracell among his endorsement portfolio.

Yamal at 19 is already paid more than Kane
Lamine Yamal sits sixth with $55 million at 19, the youngest player in the top 10. Barcelona pay him $35m on the pitch, with another $20m from off-field deals including a five-year agreement with American Eagle. Pulse describes Yamal as one of football’s fastest-rising commercial names.
He is $13m ahead of the Ballon d’Or favourite in annual earnings. Whoever leaves London with the trophy on Monday, Yamal has already won the pay comparison.
Real Madrid place three in the top 10
Real Madrid supply three of the top 10 earners. Mbappé is third on $100m, Vinícius Júnior fifth on $76m and Jude Bellingham eighth on $45m. Erling Haaland sits fourth on $85m at Manchester City, with Sadio Mané seventh on $54m at Al Nassr, where he shares a dressing room with Ronaldo. Mohamed Salah closes the top 10 on $40m after finalising his move to Trabzonspor in the summer.
