Noel Gallagher went to an NFL game on Sunday. He did not look like he enjoyed it.
The Oasis co-founder was at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford for the New York Jets’ home defeat to the Miami Dolphins. In the second half, the Jets’ in-game team put him on the big screen for their “Celebrity Spotlight,” and the stadium’s sound booth cued up “Wonderwall.”
Gallagher gave the camera a half-hearted wave and dropped his head straight into his hand.
The clip did the rounds inside the hour. The scene wrote its own punchline: a famously blunt British rock star, trapped on a sixty-foot screen, being serenaded with a chorus his younger brother made famous.

The song he wrote and never sings
Gallagher wrote “Wonderwall” for the 1995 Oasis album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” and chose to sing “Don’t Look Back in Anger” himself, leaving the lead vocal on the single to Liam. He has been asked about his brother’s chorus ever since.
The pair only reopened the Oasis catalogue with last year’s Live ’25 reunion tour, their first joint shows since the band split in 2009. The run included two nights at MetLife at the end of August and start of September, a detail the Jets’ in-game team clearly did not forget.
Gallagher was at the game with his partner Nina Johnson, who was alongside him when the camera found them.
Dolphins get their first win
The game itself produced a long-awaited first win of the 2026 season for the Dolphins and the first NFL head-coaching win for Jeff Hafley, hired in January to replace Mike McDaniel. Malik Willis threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and Miami led the rest of the way after a 21-7 first-half lead.

Geno Smith’s late touchdown pass to Mason Taylor, plus the two-point conversion, made it 28-25 with 3:24 to play. Miami’s defence held, and the Jets fell to 2-5.
