Three days on from the biggest individual honour in football, Harry Kane has a shopping list.

The 33-year-old has told SportBible that his Bayern Munich and England teammates have let him know what they want from him as the newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner. Several of them, it turns out, have expensive tastes.

“Some of the lads have asked for watches or something like that, so I’ll have to come up with something nice for them, both at Bayern and with England,” Kane told SportBible. “I’ll look into it and make sure I get everyone a nice gift.”

Kane himself arrived at the London Palladium on Monday evening in a blue-sapphire Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reported to be worth close to £1m, so the lads at Säbener Straße and St George’s Park may be bracing themselves. Or hoping.

73 goals, and the first Englishman since Owen

The gift pledge comes on the back of a season that made Kane almost impossible to overlook. He scored 73 goals for club and country across 2025/26, finished top scorer in the Bundesliga for a third straight season and reached 14 in the Champions League. He was also named Men’s Striker of the Year at the same ceremony.

Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid finished second in the vote, with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal third.

For English football, the night was 25 years in the making. Kane became the first English winner of the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001, and he looked it on stage.

“Wow, I’m almost speechless. Being in London, it is extra special,” he said after collecting the trophy. “It’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

He thanked Bayern teammates Michael Olise and Luis Díaz by name, along with England’s Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham, before closing with a line aimed at the children watching.

“For any young boy or girl who wants to achieve their dream, anything is possible.”

A guard of honour at the Allianz Arena

Those teammates returned the favour on Wednesday. Before Bayern’s DFB-Pokal second-round tie against second-division Magdeburg, Kane walked out at the Allianz Arena through a guard of honour from his teammates and waved to the home crowd.

Bayern won 6-1 to progress to the last 16, with Olise scoring twice. The occasion was also a relief off the pitch: head coach Vincent Kompany, who had collapsed with meningeal irritation earlier in the week, was discharged from hospital on matchday.
