Marcus Rashford scored 14 goals and set up 15 more during his season-long loan at Barcelona. Back at Manchester United, the 28-year-old is still waiting to add a single goal or assist to that tally.
That gap sits behind the January transfer talks between United and Everton that surfaced this week. Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, said the Merseyside club are seriously weighing a move.
“Yes, this is definitely being talked about and quite strongly. And I think that could be an interesting solution,” Wyness told the outlet.
Wyness, who ran Everton between 2004 and 2009, said he would not be surprised to see a deal done in January and pointed to Jack Grealish, whom Everton brought in from the Manchester City bench, as the template for a Rashford reset.

Permanent move or loan with option
The talks were first reported by Football Transfers, with Steve Kay writing that Everton were still weighing whether to pursue an outright transfer or a loan with a permanent option. United had valued Rashford at €30m in the summer, when the forward refused to entertain a move to another English club and chose instead to fight for his place.
Everton missed out on Folarin Balogun this summer and want more firepower for manager David Moyes this winter. They have already brought Grealish back from Manchester City on a season-long loan after the England midfielder’s foot injury cut short his first spell at the club.
Hip injury keeps Rashford out at Chelsea
Rashford has yet to register a goal or assist for United this season, and manager Michael Carrick remains in charge for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea after a 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth left the club 16th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone.
The forward has been dealing with a hip issue and, according to an update from Carrington, he returned to gym work this week but will not be available for selection at Stamford Bridge.
