Harry Kane has put his name to a new contract at Bayern Munich that runs until 30 June 2029, ending months of speculation over where the reigning Ballon d’Or winner would play next.
The two-year extension was announced by the club on Thursday, less than two weeks after Kane collected the men’s Ballon d’Or at a gala in London.
Sky Sports in Germany reports Kane’s new basic salary will be at least €25m (£20.9m) gross per year. That figure is believed to make him Europe’s highest-paid player by salary, though rival contracts loaded with bonuses may still push some players above him in total earnings.
First English winner in 25 years
Kane’s 2025/26 season turned him from prolific scorer into a global prize-winner. He scored 73 times in 65 matches for club and country, 61 of those for Bayern.

In October he became the first Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or in a quarter of a century, and the first Bundesliga-based player to lift the trophy in three decades.
Since arriving from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, the 33-year-old has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for Bayern and helped the club to a Bundesliga title and a domestic double. He has also been the division’s top scorer in each of his three seasons in Munich, becoming the first player to claim the Golden Boot in each of his first three Bundesliga campaigns.
‘I feel right at home’
Kane said he had been keen to stay.
“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager,” Kane said in the club’s statement.

“My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen called the renewal “fantastic news for us, for our fans and for the Bundesliga”. Board member Max Eberl said the agreement “gives us certainty in our planning” and “sends a message that the biggest goals are within reach at FC Bayern”.
Previous deal was due to expire next summer
The extension closes a chapter that had looked open for months. Kane’s previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, and Real Madrid had been among the clubs monitoring his situation.
The new terms take Kane through to the summer of 2029, when he will be 35.
