Spurs step up move for Semenyo as January transfer battle looms
As the mid-season transfer window approaches, Premier League clubs are beginning to draw sharper lines around their priorities — and Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has quietly moved onto several shortlists. The Ghana international continues to play down the idea of leaving the south coast, but his form has made that conversation harder for rivals to ignore.
According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City are all monitoring his situation. Semenyo signed a long-term extension earlier this year that runs until 2030, a deal Bournemouth viewed as a marker of long-term stability.
Even so, clubs are watching carefully to see whether Bournemouth’s stance shifts as January approaches.
Bids not ruled out
Sky Sports News reported that possible bids “cannot be ruled out,” though the player has shown no sign he is looking for a move. For Tottenham, the interest is partly driven by necessity. With Thomas Frank juggling a lengthy injury list, Spurs have been evaluating wide attackers who can operate comfortably from the left and offer reliable work rate — an area where Semenyo’s physical profile and direct running make him a natural fit.

Semenyo’s form turns heads
His performances are the real driver of attention. As Sky Sports News noted, Semenyo has scored six times in 11 Premier League matches, placing him among the league’s most efficient finishers so far. Only Erling Haaland and Igor Thiago have produced more goals this season.
He also sits joint-fourth in assists with three, extending the momentum he built last year, when he posted 11 goals and six assists. For clubs assessing mid-season reinforcements, that mix of productivity and availability matters; since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, he has missed only four league games.
Tottenham’s ongoing injury challenges
Tottenham, meanwhile, have rarely had the luxury of stability this season. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma and Radu Dragusin remain out, and Dominic Solanke has yet to return from the ankle injury he sustained in August.
Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Mohammed Kudus, Cristian Romero and Randal Kolo Muani have also had interruptions, leaving Frank to shuffle lineups on a near-weekly basis.

Pressure ahead of the derby
The inconsistency has shown. Spurs have taken five wins from their first 11 Premier League matches — a respectable return, but not one that keeps them in arm’s reach of the leaders.
They sit fifth, eight points behind Arsenal ahead of next weekend’s North London derby at the Emirates. Inside the club, there is a growing sense that January may need to bring both reinforcements and renewed momentum.
Is Semenyo a realistic target?
Whether Semenyo becomes a firm target is still unclear. But what is clear — and repeatedly underscored by Sky Sports News — is that Tottenham’s interest is active, and his name remains on the list as the club prepares for what could be a critical winter window.
