Ruben Amorim eyes huge january transfer for Manchester United

United review next steps for their forward line

Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford with a reputation for dynamic, high-pressing football, but United’s attack has struggled to find rhythm during the early months of his tenure.

Club officials are now exploring ways to diversify the front line, though insiders stress that the process is at an early “information-gathering” stage rather than anything resembling an active pursuit.

The idea, according to sources familiar with the club’s planning, is to identify a forward who can operate in several roles, out wide, between the lines or close to the striker, without disrupting the balance of the squad.

United believe that the past few seasons have shown the risks of relying on too few creative profiles.

Adeyemi among several names being monitored

Reporting from GIVEMESPORT, supported by commentary from journalist Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, notes that Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi is one of multiple players United have reviewed.

Adeyemi, who moved from Red Bull Salzburg to Dortmund in 2022, is under contract until June 2027.

Romano said United are studying attackers with acceleration, agility and comfort in multiple positions, traits he believes Adeyemi clearly possesses. “Man United are looking at that kind of player … be electric, be skilful, be talented, be fast, as Karim Adeyemi is very fast,” he explained.

However, Romano emphasised that no formal contact has taken place.

He stated that United have not opened talks with Adeyemi’s representatives or with Dortmund, adding that the club is still assessing a broad range of options rather than narrowing in on a single target.

Investment already made up front shapes current strategy

United spent heavily on attacking reinforcements during the most recent summer window, committing close to £200 million to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško.

That level of investment has influenced the club’s thinking, encouraging a more measured approach before committing to another major forward signing.

Amorim’s coaching staff are reportedly analysing how the new additions settle before determining whether another attacker is necessary or whether internal solutions, such as academy prospects, could play a role.

Midfield remains a longer-term priority

The next major push in United’s recruitment plan is expected to focus on midfield in 2026. Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba remains high on the club’s long-term radar after an attempt to sign him earlier in the year fell through.

Brighton’s valuation exceeded what United were prepared to pay, leading to a pause in negotiations.

According to GIVEMESPORT, figures close to the player believe Baleba is “very keen” on a move to Old Trafford. Even so, a mid-season transfer is considered unlikely, with Brighton reluctant to weaken their squad during a campaign.

United’s position heading into the break

United enter the international break sitting seventh in the Premier League, a place that reflects both flashes of improvement and familiar inconsistency. Amorim is expected to use the pause to reassess tactical options before the squad returns to face Everton next Monday.

His broader recruitment vision, quicker transitions, more fluid movement in the final third and a midfield built for aggressive pressing, will shape the club’s transfer decisions over the next two years. For now, United are watching the market rather than acting on it, confident they have time to refine their next steps.
