Leeds explore January move for Real Madrid star
Garcia, 21, has been on the fringes at Madrid despite a standout showing at last year’s Club World Cup, where he scored four goals and briefly looked poised for a breakout season. Since then, he has logged just 96 minutes in La Liga, with Madrid continuing to lean on more experienced attackers.
Spanish reports suggest Leeds are considering a bid of around £17 million, and that the player is open to regular Premier League minutes if they are available elsewhere.
Leeds searching for solutions up front
Leeds’ return to the Premier League has exposed familiar offensive issues. Daniel Farke’s squad, rebuilt over the summer, has struggled to convert chances consistently. New arrivals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha were brought in to supply goals, but early returns have been uneven.
Together with Joel Piroe, last season’s top scorer, the three have combined for only three goals in the opening 11 matches. Leeds’ total of 10 goals is the second-lowest in the league, trailing only Wolves.

Recent form has heightened concerns. Leeds have taken just four points from six matches and sit 16th, a single point above the relegation places. Farke has publicly stressed the need for “more sharpness in key moments,” though he has avoided naming individual players.
Why Garcia interests Leeds
Club analysts believe Garcia’s movement and versatility could offer something different to a front line that has occasionally looked predictable. He can operate through the middle or from either wing — a trait Leeds have lacked since selling several multipurpose attackers over recent windows.
There is also a belief inside the club that Garcia fits the age and development profile Leeds’ recruitment team has prioritized since the summer: young, mobile, and still improving. One staff member familiar with the club’s scouting process described him as “a player who can break lines rather than just occupy defenders.”
What comes next
Whether Madrid are prepared to sanction a mid-season sale is unclear, but Leeds are expected to examine several attacking options early in the window. Garcia’s situation is being monitored closely, and sources in Spain say discussions around potential departures could accelerate in the coming weeks.
