Gabriel Jesus speaks out on Arsenal exit rumours

With Arsenal juggling injuries and evaluating their squad options ahead of the winter transfer window, Gabriel Jesus has found himself unexpectedly at the center of transfer chatter.

The Brazilian forward, still recovering from a serious knee injury, has now addressed the speculation directly — and says he isn’t planning on going anywhere.

In recent reporting, the Daily Mail stated that Arsenal are reviewing potential outgoings ahead of January, listing several players who could draw interest if credible offers appear. Jesus was mentioned alongside Ben White, Gabriel Martinelli and 18-year-old prospect Ethan Nwaneri.

According to the outlet, club officials are hopeful the striker will be close to full fitness by the new year, partly so they can make an informed decision should bids materialize.

Those rumors have surfaced at a complicated moment for Jesus. The 27-year-old has dealt with recurring injuries since joining Arsenal from Manchester City, and the ACL tear he suffered in the FA Cup last season kept him off the pitch far longer than initially expected.

He’s been working through the final stages of rehabilitation at London Colney, where teammates have said privately that his energy has lifted the training ground.

Despite all that noise, Jesus insisted he is not preparing for a move.

Speaking with Globo Esporte, the Brazilian international said his long-stated dream of finishing his career back home at Palmeiras — the club where he first broke through — hasn’t changed. But he stressed that the timing for any return is years away.

“I’m very grateful to Palmeiras, it’s the club I support and I’ve made it clear to some players there that one day I’ll come back,” he said.

“But not at the moment, I’m under contract with Arsenal until 2027 and my wish is to stay here. If for any reason, both parties understand that we can’t extend beyond that, at least until 2027, I’ll be here.”

Jesus said the mental side of his recovery has been easier than expected, helped by time at home while expecting his second child.

“As surprising as it is, mentally I have been okay,” he added. “Being with my family helped me not to focus so much on the injury.”

Manager Mikel Arteta has kept expectations modest, avoiding any firm timeline on Jesus’s availability. Earlier this month, he said the striker is progressing “day by day” as he transitions from solo work into group sessions.

Arteta noted that Jesus’s presence has given the squad a lift.

“He’s full of energy… great to have him back,” the manager said.

For now, both the club and the player appear aligned: Jesus wants to stay, Arsenal want him fully healthy, and the coming weeks will determine whether January brings clarity or more noise.
