Darts meltdown shocks Ally Pally as bloody aftermath overshadows world championship clash

Tempers flare after tight world championship defeat

Cameron Menzies crashed out of the World Darts Championship after a tense 3,2 defeat to 20 year old Charlie Manby at Alexandra Palace in north London on 15 December.

According to LADbible, the decisive moment came immediately after the final dart, when Manby approached to acknowledge the contest and Menzies struggled to control his emotions.

Television pictures captured the Scot repeatedly striking the drinks stand beside the stage, knocking items to the floor and prompting gasps from the crowd inside Ally Pally.

Referee intervenes as arena turns hostile

Referee Kirk Bevins moved quickly to defuse the situation, stepping between Menzies and the stage equipment and urging him to leave.

According to Sky Sports, Menzies then turned back toward officials and spectators to offer an apology before briefly embracing Manby.

As he exited the stage, sections of the crowd responded with loud boos, underlining the shock felt throughout the venue.

Live broadcast reaction pulls no punches

Sky Sports commentator Glen Durrant criticised the scenes as they unfolded during the live broadcast.

“It wasn’t the ending we all want to see,” Durrant said.

“I’ll keep it short and sweet, for Cameron Menzies, I think he’ll regret that for the rest of his life. It was not a good watch.”

TalkSPORT labels moment unacceptable

According to talkSPORT, analyst Chris Murphy described the outburst in stark terms.

“Menzies is physically assaulting the drinks table,” Murphy told viewers.

“The referee is telling him to get off the stage as quickly as possible and the crowd are booing him. There’s blood all over his hand.”

Online reaction and disciplinary questions

According to Live Darts, footage circulating on social media showed Menzies leaving the stage with a visibly bloodied hand, sparking immediate debate over whether the Professional Darts Corporation may take action.

Reaction on X was split, with some users calling the behaviour “pathetic” and demanding a ban, while others pointed out that Menzies apologised straight away, arguing that the intense Ally Pally atmosphere contributed to the incident.

According to LADbible, the outlet has contacted the Professional Darts Corporation for comment, with no response confirmed at the time of publication.
