Liverpool and Arne Slot are plotting blockbuster winger raid as european giants circle

Liverpool assessing future attacking options

Liverpool’s recruitment strategy is beginning to crystallise as senior figures map out plans beyond the current season. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the club is monitoring Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as part of a wider evaluation of potential attacking reinforcements.

The report says Liverpool are reviewing multiple profiles as they look to evolve Arne Slot’s squad without disrupting on-pitch momentum. Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is also said to feature on the club’s internal watchlist.

Barcola emerges as alternative to Semenyo

Fichajes reports that Liverpool’s interest in Barcola is partly linked to uncertainty surrounding Antoine Semenyo. The Bournemouth forward has been a long-term target, but is now expected to complete a move to Manchester City next month, prompting Liverpool to reassess their options.

Barcola, 23, is viewed internally as a player with the technical qualities to suit Premier League football. However, Liverpool are unlikely to have a clear run at the France international. Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also tracking his situation, according to the same report.

Why Slot’s system appeals to Barcola profile

According to Fichajes, Liverpool believe Barcola’s skill set aligns well with Slot’s tactical demands, particularly his emphasis on wide players who can carry the ball, create overloads and contribute consistently in the final third.

Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 and played a central role in their treble-winning campaign. Across all competitions that season, he recorded 21 goals and 21 assists in 64 appearances.

This season, the winger has continued to feature regularly, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 21 matches. He remains under contract with PSG until the end of the 2027,28 campaign, which would likely complicate any negotiations.

Injury setback adds urgency to forward plans

Liverpool’s thinking in the transfer market may also be influenced by fitness concerns. According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the club have not ruled out signing another forward following a serious injury to striker Alexander Isak.

Romano reported that Isak suffered a leg fracture and is expected to be sidelined for several months. With the transfer window set to reopen next month, Liverpool are said to be evaluating whether additional attacking cover is required.

Defensive monitoring continues amid Guehi interest

Liverpool’s recent spending highlights the scale of their ambitions. The club invested £455m during the previous summer window, an unprecedented outlay, according to figures cited by GIVEMESPORT.

A late move for Marc Guehi failed to materialise, but interest has not disappeared. Reports suggest Liverpool are among several clubs monitoring the Crystal Palace defender’s situation ahead of his contract expiry in June, alongside Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
