Barcelona’s president has opened the door to a potential headline arrival, but stopped short of guaranteeing one.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Laporta addressed the club’s transfer plans and said: “If it's necessary to make a big signing in the summer, we are prepared for that”.

Romano reported the comments as part of the growing discussion around Barcelona’s strategy under head coach Hansi Flick, who is preparing for his first full season in charge.

Laporta’s phrasing, particularly his use of the word “necessary”, has quickly become a talking point among supporters. Barcelona have spent recent years trying to remain competitive while managing well documented financial constraints, making every major transfer decision significant.
