Barcelona Have Made Their Decision on Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford appears to have his future sorted. According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, FC Barcelona have decided to make his stay permanent and trigger the purchase option in their agreement with Manchester United.

The English forward joined the Catalan giants last summer on a one-year loan deal.

The contract included a purchase option worth 260 million kroner, and for a long time reports suggested that Barcelona were taking a wait-and-see approach regarding a permanent move.

That stance now appears to have changed.

Performances Have Convinced the Club

According to Sport, Rashford’s performances throughout the season have convinced the club’s management that he is worth the investment.

The 28-year-old England international has contributed both goals and assists, while also showing the consistency Barcelona have been seeking in their attack.

Rashford has made 34 appearances in a Barcelona shirt, registering 10 goals and 13 assists.

While those numbers do not place him at the top of the scoring charts, they underline his importance to the team’s overall attacking play.

At the same time, the newspaper highlights that alternative options on the transfer market are considered more expensive solutions.

In that light, Rashford represents a sensible choice, as he is already integrated into the squad and familiar with both the playing style and the league.

Negotiations Could Adjust the Price

Although the decision to commit to Rashford has reportedly been made, Barcelona are still hoping to negotiate the agreed fee down slightly.

The club’s financial situation means that any major investment must be approached strategically.

However, the starting point is clear: Barcelona want to keep Marcus Rashford, and according to Sport, the club are now working to secure a permanent deal.

All signs therefore suggest that the Englishman’s next club will not be a new destination, but rather a continuation of his stay in Catalonia.
