Police contacted after drone spotted near Manchester City star’s penthouse
Residents living in a luxury high-rise complex in Salford say a drone has been flying close to their windows, prompting complaints to building management and local police.
According to The Sun, several tenants in the CitySuites complex raised concerns after the device was seen hovering near apartments at high altitude, with some residents fearing their privacy may have been compromised.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed to the newspaper that officers are looking into the matter.
“We received a complaint and officers are making enquiries,” the force said in a statement cited by The Sun.

The issue gained attention online after a short TikTok clip circulated showing a man who appeared to resemble Manchester City midfielder Rodri operating a drone from a balcony in the same building where he reportedly owns a penthouse apartment.
The Sun reported that residents discussed the incident in the building’s WhatsApp group and asked the concierge to raise the situation with the property’s management team.
One tenant told the newspaper the drone had appeared unexpectedly outside their apartment window.
“I live with my partner on a high floor and the last thing you expect to see when you’re watching telly is a drone a metre outside the window,” the resident said.

The same neighbour said the situation had unsettled people in the building, particularly because high-rise living typically offers a degree of privacy from surrounding properties.
“My wife is very unnerved by it. One of the benefits of living so high up is that you’re not overlooked by anyone, but now we are being plagued by Rodri and his drone.”
It remains unclear whether the drone captured any footage or whether it was being flown in accordance with aviation rules.
In the UK, most recreational drone users must complete an online theory test with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and follow regulations governing how close drones can fly to people, buildings and private property.

SPORTbible reported it had contacted Manchester City for comment regarding the allegations.
The reports about the drone come during a period of scrutiny for the Spain international following remarks he made about referees after Manchester City’s 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year.
The Football Association charged Rodri with “making comments that imply bias and/or question the integrity of a match official.” He later received an £80,000 fine but avoided a suspension after accepting the charge.
In a statement, the midfielder apologised for his remarks.

“I would like to apologise again for the comments I made during my post-match interview following the fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on 1 February 2026,” Rodri said.
“I fully accept that my words, as expressed, were inappropriate and fell below the standard expected of me as a professional player. I wish to make clear that I did not intend to imply bias or question the integrity of the match officials.”
He added that his comments were made in frustration following the match and that he continued to have respect for referees and the work they do.
