Barcelona election explodes as Font revives Guardiola dream and Laporta backs Flick
Election debate reignites Guardiola return
As FC Barcelona moves toward a crucial presidential vote, the club’s sporting direction has become a central topic among members and supporters.
According to The Touchline football account on social media, challenger Víctor Font has again raised the possibility of bringing Pep Guardiola back to the club if he wins the election.
Guardiola coached FC Barcelona between 2008 and 2012 and won 14 trophies during that period. His team is still widely viewed as one of the most influential sides in modern football, known for its possession based style and attacking philosophy.
The idea of a Guardiola return has stirred strong reactions among supporters. Some fans see it as a chance to reconnect with a historic era that defined the club’s identity, while others question whether revisiting the past would help Barcelona continue its current rebuild.

Laporta throws support behind Hansi Flick
Incumbent president Joan Laporta has made clear that he prefers continuity under current coach Hansi Flick.
Flick led the team to a treble last season and has maintained a win rate of roughly 75 percent since taking charge.
Speaking about the coach, Laporta praised his impact on the squad and the atmosphere around the club.
Joan Laporta said, “Flick is making FC Barcelona fall in love with him and is directing it masterfully. So between Flick and Guardiola, Flick.”

According to The Touchline, the comment circulated on social media as the presidential campaign intensified.
Supporters have also pointed to Flick’s connection with players as a positive sign, including moments where he publicly supported midfielder Gavi during the youngster’s recovery from injury.
A choice between stability and a return to the golden era
Laporta’s campaign has highlighted financial restructuring, contract renewals, and sporting stability as key achievements during his leadership.
Font’s proposal, by contrast, leans heavily on the symbolic power of Guardiola’s era and the emotional connection many supporters still feel toward that period.
