Tiger Woods confirms shock return weeks before Masters

Tiger Woods will return to competitive golf on Tuesday in the TGL indoor league finals, marking his first appearance since back surgery late last year.

The 50-year-old has not played on the PGA Tour since July 2024, and his absence has fueled uncertainty about whether he would compete again at the highest level.

TGL confirmed his return in a social media post, sharing an image of Woods mid-swing with the caption: “He’s back.”

He is expected to play in the SoFi Cup Finals, where his Jupiter Links team faces Los Angeles Golf Club in a must-win match. Woods replaces Kevin Kisner after missing the opening contest of the best-of-three series, which Los Angeles won 6-5.

Woods will team up with Max Homa and Tom Kim against Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala.

Return adds intrigue ahead of the Masters

His comeback comes just two weeks before the Masters begins at Augusta National on April 9, increasing speculation about whether he will take part.

Woods has not confirmed his participation. Speaking recently about his recovery, he said:
“I said I've been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun.

“So as I said, I've had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn't quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn't quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it's hard to just to move around.”

According to the official Masters website, Woods is currently listed to make his 27th appearance at the tournament in 2026, further fueling discussion about his potential return.

While it remains unclear whether he will be fit to compete at Augusta, his participation in the TGL final offers the strongest indication yet that he is nearing a return to regular competition.
