Mbappe could quit Nike in shock sponsorship switch
Kylian Mbappe may be heading toward a major change off the pitch, with his long-standing partnership with Nike reportedly nearing its end.
French outlet Le Parisien reports that the Real Madrid forward’s current deal with the sportswear giant is approaching expiration, and discussions over an extension are not progressing. If confirmed, it would mark the end of a relationship that began when Mbappe was just eight years old.
Over the past decade, Mbappe has become one of Nike’s most prominent athletes, rising from a teenage breakthrough at AS Monaco to a global superstar. The company has built campaigns around him, including a recent release of signature boots inspired by his Parisian roots.
However, interest from rival brands is already intensifying.

Adidas and Under Armour Position for Potential Deal
According to Le Parisien, both Adidas and Under Armour are actively pursuing the France international ahead of a possible split from Nike. Mbappe’s current contract, signed in 2019, is reportedly worth around €14 million per year and runs until the summer of 2026.
A switch would carry significant commercial implications. Mbappe is widely regarded as one of football’s most marketable figures, and his next endorsement deal could reshape the balance among major sportswear brands.
There is also a natural link to Adidas. Real Madrid, his current club, has a long-standing partnership with the German manufacturer—something that could factor into any decision.
He would not be alone in making such a move. Teammate Rodrygo Goes recently transitioned from Nike to Adidas, highlighting a broader trend among elite players.

Fitness Concerns Add Uncertainty
At the same time, questions have emerged about Mbappe’s fitness following a reported medical oversight.
In a separate report, The Athletic detailed that an MRI scan was initially conducted on the wrong knee, despite signs of inflammation in his left leg. As a result, Mbappe is said to have played in three matches before further testing revealed a partial tear in a posterior knee ligament.
Despite the issue, he made a substitute appearance in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid on Sunday. He has scored 38 goals in all competitions this season, underlining his importance to the team even amid fitness concerns.
With both his commercial future and physical condition under scrutiny, the coming months could prove pivotal for one of football’s biggest stars.
