Donald Trump sacks NFL legend’s wife from White House role after email leak

Donald Trump has removed former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean from a federal advisory body, according to media reports, with the decision drawing attention after a dismissal email surfaced online weeks later.

Prejean, who had been appointed to the Religious Liberty Commission in May 2025, was quietly removed from the role earlier this year. Her departure only became public in February after she shared details including what appeared to be an official termination email on social media.

According to reporting cited by outlets including Sportbible, commission chairman Dan Patrick said the decision followed concerns about her conduct during proceedings. He stated that Prejean had “hijack[ed] a hearing on antisemitism for [her] own personal and political agenda.”

In an Instagram post addressing her removal, Prejean wrote: “President Trump officially removes me from the Religious Liberty Commission for exercising my Religious Liberty.” She also claimed: “The only Catholic woman who opposes Zionism was removed as a prelude to the Iran war,” a statement reflecting her personal view.

Alongside the post, she shared a screenshot of an email that appeared to come from the White House. The message read: “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as a member of the Religious Liberty Commission is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service.” The email appeared to have been sent by a staff member within the Presidential Personnel Office.

Prejean’s relationship with Trump dates back to 2009, when she won Miss California USA during the period he owned the Miss USA organization. At the time, Trump publicly defended her amid controversy over her stance on same-sex marriage and the release of a partially nude photograph.

However, their professional relationship later broke down. Trump ultimately approved her dismissal from her pageant role, citing “continued breach of contract issues,” which led to a legal dispute that was later settled privately.

In recent months, Prejean has taken a markedly different stance toward the former president. Speaking on Piers Morgan’s show Uncensored, she described the MAGA movement as “deader than dead,” signaling a sharp break from her earlier support.

Outside of politics, she has been married since 2010 to former NFL quarterback Kyle Boller, who played for the Baltimore Ravens, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders during a nine-season career.

Her removal from the commission and her subsequent criticism of Trump underscores a significant shift in a relationship that once appeared closely aligned.
