Donald Trump sends public message to McIlroy after Masters win
Rory McIlroy’s victory at the Masters on Sunday drew a public response from U.S. President Donald Trump, who praised the Northern Irishman’s performance in a social media post.
McIlroy secured a second consecutive title at Augusta National, becoming one of a select group of players to win back-to-back green jackets and marking another major milestone in his career.
SportBible reported that he carried a record lead into the third round before holding off competition from Cameron Young, Justin Rose and Scottie Scheffler to seal the win.
Trump congratulated McIlroy in a post on Truth Social, focusing on the challenge of performing under pressure.

“Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on another Great Championship, The Masters!
He performed tremendously under intense pressure, something which few people would be able to even think about doing. With each year, Rory is becoming more and more a LEGEND! I look forward to watching him compete in two weeks at Doral.
The quality of Professional Golfers today has become extraordinary, each and every one of them. They should all be proud of the way they played at The Masters this weekend! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
The post also referenced the upcoming PGA Tour event at Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster course, scheduled from April 29 to May 3, according to SportBible.
SportBible also noted that Trump and McIlroy have met on multiple occasions. The president has previously shared images of them together, including during a visit to his golf club in Palm Beach County, Florida.
McIlroy, who lives nearby in Jupiter, has also played rounds at the course in the past. His former agent, Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, said the two were familiar with each other through golf.

“You forget that Donald will have played with Rory three or four times in Jupiter. They’re almost neighbours.
I don’t know how many times Rory has played with him, but I’ll bet it’s more than once. Trump loves golfers. He absolutely loves golfers. The President of America is a proper golfing nut, and there’s nothing wrong with it.”
