Ramos drilled a left-footed finish into the Venezia net in the 69th minute of Milan’s 2-0 win, scoring the first goal of his Rossoneri career from a threaded Alexis Saelemaekers pass on the counter. It ended a wasteful evening in which he had missed two clear openings and scuffed a Ruben Loftus-Cheek pull-back.

Amorim was blunt about why Milan had spent so much on the 25-year-old.

“Of course he’s a striker, we paid a lot of money because he scores goals, but the way he plays, works, connects the game, that means a lot,” the head coach said after the match.

The Leão record, broken

Milan announced the transfer on 30 June and signed Ramos on a contract to 30 June 2031. Italian media reported a fee that could rise to around €80 million with add-ons, comfortably surpassing the roughly €35 million the club paid Lille for Rafael Leão in 2019 to make Ramos the biggest incoming deal in Milan’s history.

Ramos was one of Amorim’s first signings after the Portuguese coach was appointed in June 2026, five months after he was sacked by Manchester United. Amorim replaced Massimiliano Allegri, whose contract was ended after Milan finished eighth in Serie A last season.

Back-to-back in Paris

Ramos leaves the French capital having joined from Benfica on 7 August 2023 and won back-to-back Champions League titles with PSG, the most recent against Arsenal in May 2026.

“Paris Saint-Germain thanks Gonçalo Ramos for his professionalism, his commitment and his contribution to the club’s recent success, and wishes him all the very best for the rest of his career,” the French champions said in their announcement.

The Venezia goal was Milan’s second win in two league matches under Amorim.
