Antony teed up Cucho Hernández for the equaliser against Porto on Wednesday night. By the time he got home from Seville’s La Cartuja, thieves had been through his house.
The 26-year-old put the story out himself on Instagram the following day, in a message laced with anger rather than detail. He gave no inventory of what was taken and no account of what the police had done.
“A night that had everything to be brilliant ended in anger and frustration,” Antony wrote. “My home was burgled.”
“What angers me most is not just the material loss, but the feeling of insecurity inside the place where we should feel most protected.”

“There is no material possession in the world more valuable than my family’s life and well-being.”
The one line that has carried across the coverage is about his family, not the thieves. He said he was haunted by the fear in their eyes.
The match he was playing
Real Betis beat Porto 3-2 at the Estadio de la Cartuja on 14 October in the UEFA Champions League league phase. The first half ended goalless. Antony then set up Cucho Hernández for the 2-2 equaliser in the 74th minute, the Colombian meeting his pass with a tidy right-foot finish after coming on in the 62nd. Isco settled it from the penalty spot in the 84th.
Antony had started the match. He joined Betis permanently from Manchester United in the summer of 2025 after a loan spell in Andalusia revived his career, and the assist against Porto was the kind of contribution Betis had signed him for.

A pattern footballers in Spain know too well
Thieves targeting La Liga players’ houses on matchdays is not a new problem. The timing is the point: a top-flight home game is a known three-hour window when the owner is on television and his street is quiet. Victims in recent seasons have included Karim Benzema and Lamine Yamal, part of a run of break-ins on La Liga players’ homes.
Antony did not say in his message whether anyone was at the house during the break-in, and neither Betis nor the Seville police have made a public statement on the case.
Betis return to La Liga on Saturday away at Barcelona.
