If Arsenal and Inter are paired in the 2026/27 league phase, the tie will be played at the Emirates Stadium. It cannot go to San Siro. UEFA has decided that any individual fixture between the same two teams may not be repeated in the same competition with the same home team for three consecutive seasons.

Arsenal have already made the Milan trip twice in a row. Inter won the first meeting 1-0 at San Siro in the 2024/25 league phase, and Arsenal won the second, also at San Siro, 3-1 in 2025/26. A third straight visit with Inter as hosts is off the table.

Draw in Monaco tonight

The 36 clubs learn their eight opponents at the Grimaldi Forum on Thursday, with the ceremony starting at 6pm local time. Matchday 1 follows on 8-10 September 2026, and the league phase runs into late January 2027.

Both Arsenal and Inter sit in Pot 1 alongside PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Each side draws two opponents from every pot, so an Arsenal-Inter pairing remains possible; the restriction only rules out the venue. Arsenal’s possible Pot 1 away trips are now confined to PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atlético Madrid.

Liverpool caught by the same clause

The clause bites both ways. Liverpool have hosted Real Madrid at Anfield in each of the past two league phases, so they cannot host them again in 2026/27. If the pairing comes out, the trip has to be to the Bernabéu.

The wording covers only the specific venue configuration that has repeated. The reverse fixtures are untouched: Arsenal can host Inter at the Emirates, and Liverpool can travel to Madrid.

The 2026/27 final is scheduled for 5 June 2027 at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
