Bad news for FC Barcelona: Injuries stacking up

FC Barcelona once again face a difficult build-up, just as the team prepares for one of the most important matches of the season.

Injury problems continue to plague the squad, creating uncertainty ahead of the first Copa del Rey semi-final against Atlético Madrid.

The match will be played tomorrow at the Metropolitano, but preparations have been marked by several notable absences.

Two attacking key players, Raphinha and Marcus Rashford, were not present on the training pitch, weakening Barcelona’s options in a fixture of this magnitude.

Raphinha Continues His Rehabilitation

The Brazilian winger once again did not take part in team training.

Instead, he continued working individually in the gym, focusing on returning as quickly as possible.

Raphinha has been sidelined with a strain in his right adductor muscle, which he suffered during the league match against Elche at the end of January.

The club initially expected him to be out for around ten days, but his recovery has progressed more slowly than hoped.

The new target is for him to be available for the LaLiga clash against Girona on Monday, February 16.

However, his place in the starting line-up remains uncertain, as the injury still requires careful management.

Rashford to Miss the Semi-Final

Marcus Rashford will also not be part of the squad for the match against Atlético.

The forward was absent from training, and FC Barcelona have confirmed that he is dealing with discomfort in his left knee.

The issue stems from the match against Mallorca and means he will not recover in time for the semi-final.

His absence comes at an unfortunate moment, as Rashford was expected to play an important role in the attack.

De Jong Back on the Pitch

Amid the many injury concerns, there was, however, a positive update.

Frenkie de Jong trained again with the rest of the squad and took part in ball drills.

The Dutch midfielder has not been at his best recently, and head coach Hansi Flick has previously emphasized that he is not yet fully match-fit.

Nevertheless, his return could prove crucial in a match where Barcelona need stability and experience.

The injury list remains a challenge for the Catalan side, and the question now is whether the team can overcome the setbacks and secure a strong position ahead of the return leg.
