The 20-year-old Sweden international extended his Tottenham contract until 2031, and the queue of suitors has only grown since. Barcelona lead it, with Napoli and Juventus also tracking him, TEAMtalk reporter Pete O’Rourke writes in an exclusive on Wednesday.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi will not sanction a sale in mid-season without a replacement already in the building. That is Spurs’ one non-negotiable.
“Allowing him to leave would reduce depth in a key area, and the club are not prepared to weaken the squad mid-season without a replacement already lined up,” TEAMtalk writes.
Barca see a rebuild piece, Napoli a short-term fix
Barcelona view Bergvall as a long-term option for their midfield rebuild, with The Hard Tackle framing him as a possible successor to Frenkie de Jong. The Catalan club watched him at Djurgårdens IF before Tottenham signed him in July 2024, and the interest has never really gone away.

Napoli’s case is more immediate. The Italian champions are bracing for possible departures from Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Stanislav Lobotka and Kevin De Bruyne, according to reporting from 24 October, and see Bergvall as a player who would walk straight into the rotation.
Juventus had explored a January loan, but that route now appears closed, according to TEAMtalk.
Knee injury, Leeds return in sight
Bergvall has been out with a knee problem but is close to returning. He is listed as a minor doubt for the Premier League match against Leeds United on Saturday, with Sports Mole reporting that he should be back on the pitch.
Minutes, more than anything else, have shaped his season. The midfielder has six appearances in 2026-27 after 84 across his first two Tottenham campaigns, per The Hard Tackle, and he has struggled for consistent playing time under De Zerbi.

Why not just cash in?
Selling a 20-year-old midfielder mid-season, without an obvious replacement lined up, would leave Spurs short in a position De Zerbi rotates heavily. The summer, not January, is the more realistic window for any move.
Bergvall’s contract is also widely thought to carry a release clause, although neither the player nor the club has confirmed its structure. A September report citing former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness raised a possible valuation of up to £80m, but that figure is Wyness’s own estimate rather than a confirmed clause value.
Bergvall could rejoin the Spurs squad for the trip to Leeds on Saturday.
