The numbers that frame the night belong to Ousmane Dembele. The 29-year-old has three goals and three assists in his two Champions League appearances for PSG this season. He scored twice and set up two in the 6-1 rout of Slovan Bratislava, then added a goal and an assist at Manchester City. Rested at Strasbourg over the weekend, he is expected back in the starting XI.
Barcelona sold him for around €50m in the summer of 2023, when PSG triggered a buy-out clause on a contract that still had two years to run. Six years earlier they had paid Borussia Dortmund more than €105m to make him, at the time, the second-most-expensive signing in football history behind Neymar. The years in between were defined mostly by injuries, with Xavi still viewing him as integral when the Paris move was finalised.
What has followed is now the backdrop to Tuesday. Back-to-back Champions League titles, the 2025 Ballon d’Or in September, and a share of the Ligue 1 top-scorer award with 21 goals.
Both clubs reach matchday 3 unbeaten and level on six points, meeting at the top of the Champions League league phase. The hosts have scored 10 and conceded three. Barcelona have scored nine and conceded two. Kick-off at the Parc des Princes is at 9pm Paris local time.

‘I am a Barca member’
Facing his former club will be odd for the PSG manager, too.
“I am a Barca member, I played there and was the coach,” Luis Enrique told reporters on Monday.
“But of course I would love to win tomorrow, as a Parisian.”
Most of the questions on the eve of the match turned on how PSG plan to handle Lamine Yamal, the 19-year-old who finished runner-up to Dembele in the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

“The best way to stop Lamine Yamal is to keep the ball away from Barcelona,” Luis Enrique said.
“If he cannot get the ball, everything is calm. That would be ideal, but we know it won’t be the case.”
He also played down the weight of three points in October.
“The competition will start in April, not now. This is just three points at stake.”

Both sides down key defenders
Barcelona travel without Jules Kounde, who has a left ankle sprain and is also a doubt for next weekend’s Clasico. Eric Garcia (thigh) and Andreas Christensen are the other absentees in defence, forcing Hansi Flick into an improvised back line with Joao Cancelo pulled across to right-back alongside Pau Cubarsi.
Flick’s side arrive on an 11-match winning run across competitions, with 48 goals in that stretch and a 5-2 win at Real Betis in LaLiga at the weekend behind them.
PSG’s own hole is at left-back. Nuno Mendes is out for the coming weeks with a thigh injury sustained against Strasbourg, and Lucas Digne is in line to replace him.
