Barcelona hit by injury blow as Pedri faces weeks out
FC Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Pedro González, known as Pedri, has suffered a right hamstring injury following the club’s recent European fixture.
According to the official FC Barcelona website, medical examinations carried out on Thursday morning verified that the issue occurred during Wednesday’s match against Slavia Prague. Club doctors estimate that the recovery period will take approximately one month, during which Pedri will undergo a supervised rehabilitation programme.
Injury confirmed after Prague clash
The injury was picked up during Barcelona’s away match at Prague’s Fortuna Arena, where Pedri was forced to leave the field in the 61st minute with the score tied at 2,2.
His departure came at a tense moment in the contest and briefly disrupted Barcelona’s rhythm in midfield. Despite the setback, the Spanish side responded positively and went on to secure a 4,2 comeback victory, as reported by the club.

Key figure sidelined during busy schedule
The win marked Barcelona’s 29th victory of the 2025,26 season across all competitions, underlining the team’s strong form.
Pedri has started 24 of those matches and has contributed four goals from midfield. Wearing the number eight shirt, he has remained central to Barcelona’s ball progression and attacking build up, with much of the team’s play flowing through him.
Managing the impact of Pedri’s absence
Barcelona now face the challenge of adjusting their midfield structure while the Canary Islander recovers. With fixtures continuing on multiple fronts, the coaching staff will be tasked with managing workloads and maintaining balance until Pedri is available again.
