Barcelona welcome back Christensen after injury

After the return of Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski, Hansi Flick is now welcoming back another key figure in his defensive setup.

Long-awaited return

The Catalan side were back in training on Monday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, less than 24 hours after their 3–1 victory over Elche at Montjuïc.

The recovery session involved the substitutes and players with fewer minutes, while the starters focused on gym work to manage fatigue.

According to SPORT, Andreas Christensen finally trained with the group again. The Danish centre-back joined a low-intensity session alongside teammates who either didn’t play or started on the bench against Elche.

His return comes after missing three matches, against Olympiacos, Real Madrid, and Elche, first due to illness and then a muscle injury. He is reportedly feeling good and, barring any setbacks, is expected to be included in Wednesday’s squad list.

Caution with Joan García

Goalkeeper Joan García, however, has not yet rejoined full training. The club considers it too early for him to return, especially with the team travelling to Bruges on Tuesday.

The coaching staff believe it would make little sense for him to reappear midweek and then miss upcoming sessions while the team is abroad.

The Sallent-born keeper could be back later this week or early next, depending on how his recovery progresses.

Flick has already stated that he does not expect to have García available until after the international break, with matches against Athletic Club on 22 November and Chelsea three days later at Stamford Bridge marked as realistic targets.

Youngster earning trust

Meanwhile, Xavi Espart continues to make the most of his opportunity. The Barça Atlètic right-back once again trained with the first team and has impressed Flick with his attitude and performances.

With several defenders still recovering, the German coach has relied on the youngster to fill out training sessions and recent matchday squads. Inside the club, Espart’s work ethic, progress, and commitment are being closely noted, making him a candidate to stay involved while injuries persist.
