Barcelona’s stadium rebuild bill explodes beyond €1bn
Barcelona’s sweeping renovation of Camp Nou is now projected to run well beyond its initial financial plan. According to Catalan outlet RAC1, in a report referenced by The Touchline on X, the total cost of the project has surpassed the €960 million figure previously outlined by the club.
Fresh estimates place the final price tag between €1.1 billion and €1.2 billion, a significant increase from the amount presented when the Espai Barça redevelopment was first approved.
How the budget moved beyond €960m
When Barcelona unveiled plans to modernize Camp Nou under the wider Espai Barça initiative, the club set the investment framework at €960 million. The project includes expanded seating capacity, upgraded hospitality areas and commercial facilities designed to strengthen long-term revenue.
If the revised projection proves accurate, the final cost would represent an increase of roughly 15 to 25 percent above the original estimate.

Barcelona have not formally confirmed the updated figures. The club has also not publicly detailed the factors behind the higher projection.
Financial implications for Espai Barça
The redevelopment of Camp Nou is central to Barcelona’s long-term financial strategy. Modern corporate areas, improved fan amenities and enhanced commercial infrastructure are expected to generate additional matchday and sponsorship income once the stadium is fully operational.
The reported rise in costs comes as Barcelona continue efforts to stabilize their finances after several challenging seasons. Any substantial increase in borrowing or funding requirements could affect the broader Espai Barça framework, depending on how the project is ultimately financed.
For now, the €1.1 billion to €1.2 billion range remains an external estimate reported by RAC1 and amplified by The Touchline, rather than an officially confirmed final total.
