That contradiction is the quiet center of United’s handling of their 32-year-old captain’s future. The public line is that Fernandes stays, yet recent reports have put a number on him of between €50 million and €60 million, equivalent to around £51 million.

Juventus’s verdict on that number came via Italian outlet TuttoJuve, which concluded the asking price would make any serious bid very difficult to put together.

The Serie A club had been considered the most concrete of the European suitors circling the midfielder.

Fernandes leaning toward a new deal

The player is not pushing for an exit. Fernandes is open to signing a new contract rather than running down his current one, which expires in 2027 and comes with a United option for a further year.

His age and his wages, as United’s highest-paid player, are the main obstacles to a new agreement rather than any desire to leave.

Milan, Galatasaray and Saudi suitors remain

Juventus’s project would have paired Fernandes with Benjamin Sesko in what Gazzetta dello Sport called an ambitious double swoop at the end of the 2026-27 season. The Italian club is watching Sesko’s slow start at United, where the 23-year-old Slovenia striker has scored twice this season after 12 goals in 32 appearances in his debut campaign.

AC Milan have also tracked Fernandes, and Galatasaray pursued the midfielder during the summer window. Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are monitoring the situation as well.

January window the next test

Fernandes’s current deal runs to summer 2027, with United holding an option to extend by a further year. New-contract talks between player and club are now described as accelerating toward a resolution, with the January transfer window the next moment any outside bid would land.
