Chaos at Kings League after insult to Lamine Yamal’s mother

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the incident unfolded after La Capital CF — co-owned by Yamal and Twitch streamer Lautaro del Campo — were soundly beaten 11–3 by Porcinos, a team owned by content creators Ibai Llanos and Guanyar.

Moments after the final whistle, Guanyar allegedly turned toward the stands and made “obscene gestures” toward supporters. Yamal’s cousin, Mohamed Abde, approached him to demand an explanation, reportedly asking, “Why are you doing that to them?”

Guanyar later responded that some fans had been verbally abusing his team throughout the match, telling Marca, “They’ve been insulting us the whole match. They’re messing with my mother.”

Escalating tensions

Although neither Abde nor Guanyar were directly involved in the confrontation that followed, Marca reported that groups of fans from both clubs clashed inside the arena. Security staff intervened quickly to separate supporters and escort several people from the venue.

Footage streamed on Guanyar’s Twitch channel — later widely circulated on social media — appeared to show the moment he made the gestures toward the crowd. In the aftermath, several La Capital staff members confronted him angrily near the touchline.

Spanish journalist Riki Crespo reacted to the scenes on X (formerly Twitter), writing in Spanish: “Nunca había pasado nada así en la Kings League hasta que llegaron estos, ¿es casualidad?” — translated as, “Nothing like this had ever happened in the Kings League until these guys arrived. Is it a coincidence?”

Kings League spotlight

Porcinos’ emphatic 11–3 win secured their place in the semi-finals of the Kings League, a seven-a-side competition founded by former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Piqué in 2022. The hybrid tournament merges football with live digital media, drawing huge online audiences across Europe and Latin America.

Yamal remains the only active professional footballer to co-own a Spanish team in the league. Other high-profile players, including Neymar in Brazil and James Rodríguez in Mexico, also hold stakes in regional editions of the competition.

Several retired stars — among them Iker Casillas, Marcelo, Sergio Agüero, and Eden Hazard — are also involved in the project, which has rapidly grown into one of football’s most-watched crossover entertainment ventures.

Although the incident may seem minor compared with controversies in professional football, it underscores the growing intensity of the Kings League’s fan culture — and the challenges of balancing competitive passion with digital showmanship.
