AZ Alkmaar might not possess the centuries of history or the overflowing trophy cabinets of Europe’s biggest names, but this Dutch club, founded in 1967, has carved out a distinct identity. Representing the city of Alkmaar, their home is the AFAS Stadion, an intimate ground that welcomes 19,500 fans for every match.

While the club’s narrative isn’t dominated by a long list of major honours, AZ has consistently established itself as a resilient and respected presence within the Eredivisie. They are a club known for their steady contribution to the top flight, often seen as a challenging force that keeps the traditional Dutch powerhouses on their toes.

AZ Alkmaar continues to be a vital part of the Netherlands’ footballing fabric, holding its own against more storied opponents and consistently striving for competitive success.
