Conor McGregor furious after White House UFC snub as he calls out Charles Oliveira

According to Colum Motherway reporting for Extra.ie, Conor McGregor was not included when the fight card for the planned June 14 event linked to the White House was revealed during the UFC 326 broadcast.

The former two-division UFC champion had publicly pushed for a place on the historic event for months. However, when the line-up was announced during Saturday night’s broadcast, his name was not among the fighters confirmed for the card.

McGregor has not competed in the Octagon since July 2021, when he suffered a serious leg injury in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Frustration after white house event snub

According to Extra.ie, McGregor had been openly promoting the possibility of fighting on the card, which would have been one of the most unusual venues in UFC history.

However, while the Irish fighter had been linked with a potential bout against Michael Chandler, that fight was not confirmed for the event.

Chandler was still included on the card announcement, leaving McGregor without a scheduled comeback bout.

Despite missing out, McGregor reacted positively to the event on social media. According to Extra.ie, he shared the card on Instagram and wrote “Love it!” before adding in another post, “Iconic! Worth every Red Cent!”

Dana White casts doubt on comeback timeline

According to Extra.ie, UFC president Dana White also addressed the situation during the post fight press conference following UFC 326.

White indicated that a return for McGregor is not close to being finalised, saying a deal for his comeback fight is “not even close.”

The update suggested that negotiations for the Irish star’s return to the Octagon remain uncertain as the promotion continues to shape its upcoming events.

McGregor turns attention to Charles Oliveira

While his place on the White House card did not materialise, McGregor quickly shifted his attention to another potential opponent.

According to Extra.ie, the former champion reacted to Charles Oliveira’s win over Max Holloway at UFC 326 by publicly calling out the Brazilian fighter on social media.

McGregor criticised the fight and then issued a challenge to Oliveira, writing that if the UFC wanted the matchup, he would “spank Charlie.”

The comments immediately sparked speculation about whether Oliveira could become McGregor’s next opponent.

International fight week could host return

According to Extra.ie, McGregor previously said during an appearance on Chael Sonnen’s Smash Cast podcast that International Fight Week could be another possible target for his comeback.

The UFC’s annual summer event, scheduled for July, is traditionally one of the promotion’s biggest cards of the year.

If negotiations progress, the event could provide the stage for McGregor’s long awaited return to competition after nearly four years away from the Octagon.
